Aamir - Review

Aamir

'Kaun Kehta Hai Aadmi Apni Kismat Khud Likhta Hai...'
This is the tagline of this movie.
True to its meaning, the movie revolves perfectly around Dr. Aamir Ali, played by Rajiv Khandelwal, at the mercy of Islamic extremists.

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the movie is fast paced, does not waste any time and has a uniform consistency throughout. This is a great movie, really well made! Rajiv Khandelwal has acted brilliantly, and though from a television background, it was not expected of him to actually perform this way!

The music is by Amit Trivedi. And the genius that he is, he delivers some really nice music. 'Mehfooz' and 'Ek Lau' are my favourite tracks, besides all the others in this movie.

The concept is fresh, innovative and unique. Truly something innovative. It's a brilliant piece of cinema that captures the human emotion in a manner never seen before. If I mention anything about this movie, it would be a spoiler! Just take my word for it, and watch it...

Edward Scissorhands - Review

Edward Scissorhands

Tim Burton's 1990 fantasy movie starring Johnny Depp as Edward Scissorhands was and is a brilliant movie. It is the story of Edward, who is created by an inventor, but when the inventor dies, Edward ventures into the crowd, the town. What follows are the various scenarios of how he deals with this look of his, peoples reactions, love, and life. As the name suggests, his hands are replaced by Scissors.

Johnny Depp is marvellous in his role of a confused freak, lost in translation all the time, mistaken as a criminal, failed at love, etc. This was one of the earliest english movies that I remember. It has that typical Tim Burton touch of creepiness and weirdness to it. Nevertheless it is quiet heartwarming.

This movie gained a lot of fame and recognition at that time, and is considered a classic today. A must watch for everyone, and if you are a Burton fan, you'll love it!

Pushpak - Review

Pushpak

The name itself brings a smile on my face. This silent 1988 comedy, is a cult classic today. Starring Kamal Hasan in the lead role, this movie is about a guy who wants to be rich, and as fate would have it, his luck changes when he meets a drunkard, kidnaps him, and potrays himself as that guy by staying in his hotel room. No! He does not kill the drunkard, but ties him up in his chawl room, and pays a visit to feed and clean him everytime.

Meanwhile, cupid strikes and he falls in love. What next begins is a series of confusion between a contract killer, a murder, a body, a target, love, lies, silent humor, confessions, secrets, and to top it all of, Kamal Hasan!
The movie indeed tickles your funny bone. A must see!
