Movie Boxset - What is it?

DVD's and Blu Rays are the new VHS!

A marketing strategy or the love for fans, I don't know what compels the movie making companies to release these movies in some extraordinary packaging.

The boxset is mostly a set of movies which is released together, or rather collected together for the convenience of fans. It is mostly done to collect:
  1. A movie franchise,
  2. A director's/actor's works,
  3. Special editions,
  4. Digitally Remastered editions, etc.

It may include the following:
  1. Memorabilia,
  2. Movie Posters,
  3. Collectible or Special Toys/Figures,
  4. Booklets,
  5. Cards,
  6. Bonus features,
  7. Deleted scenes,
  8. Commentaries,
  9. Blu Ray Copies,
  10. Digital Copies,
  11. DVD Copies,
  12. Ultraviolet Copies,
  13. Director's Cut of the movie/s,
  14. Uncensored version of the movie/s,
  15. Interactive Interface,
  16. Bonus Scenes,
  17. Blooper Reels,
  18. Making of,
  19. Never before seen content,
  20. Soundtracks, etc.
Some may include all of the above or only some of the above. But all this is not cheap. It all comes at much much greater price.

However, these collections are really beautiful, and very appealing to some hardcore collectors. These have a value of their own. I'll be posting images of some boxsets which appear to be very promising. You can find the details about these boxsets on the internet at some famous ecommerce websites.
